Salomon: Men's SPK Kaos Ski Boots

From Kaos comes comfort--at least compared to similar performance boots that don't give you any extra cushion during big air landings. Salomon's Kaos boot is a freeski boot design specifically made for high-flying freestyle enthusiasts. While ideally designed for park and pipe use (that's where the most air tends to happen) backcountry freeskiers might find the Kaos is ideal for their frequent-flyer miles, too. This season Salomon kept the same flex rating to please performance skiers but this Kaos doesn't have the Shock Absorber footbed found in the backcountry Ghost, Shogun and Poison Salomon boots. It DOES have a shock absorber in the heel (that's the triangular red wedge beneath the heel). Salomon opted for a distinctly different cushioning system in the Kaos that incorporates extra spoiler padding and the proven My Comfort Fit (CF) Sport Liner. The 100-point flex index rating is up there for stiffness in Salomon boots, but if you know your boot size, you'll find that this is a great performance design that works with the CF Sport liner for all-day ski comfort. Flip open the glove-friendly micro aluminum buckles and unwrap the generously wide 55-mm. adjustment strap and you'll find a special Quicklace closure on the CF Sport Liner that helps you tweak the fit without excessive fiddling. The CF Sport liner fits close but has a little more padding than the CF Pro model on the Pro Model. Another new innovation this season is The Salomon Cushioning System (SCS) that provides oversized neoprene liner cushioning around the toes and a soft toe insert in the shell to protect the front of your feet.
